About us…
Peder Kjargaard first started Ocean Marker in 1967 as a parking lot painting company in Vancouver. In 1974, he moved his business and his growing family to Victoria and continued to paint playground game courts, roads, highways and airports. Peder then taught himself how to surface tennis courts and in 1986, Ocean Marker completed their first court in Victoria, BC. This launched the business into coating and lining of latex running tracks throughout BC, Alberta, Washington, and Texas. With the business growing so quickly, Peder put all his six kids to work in the company, teaching them the skills of hard work and patience.
His youngest son, Graham Kjargaard, eagerly learned the construction of urethane running tracks, working on projects throughout Canada and the USA and founded Ocean Marker Sport Surfaces Inc. in 1995.
Along with his business partner, Benedict Chen, each with over 35 years of skill and knowledge in the sports construction industry, Ocean Marker Sport Surfaces is a leader in providing the highest quality workmanship possible and value-added construction services to our customers by creating a successful partnership with them throughout the construction process. Our pledge is to establish lasting relationships with our clients by exceeding their expectations and gaining their trust through exceptional performance by every member of the construction team.
